Hello, and welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m a mum of two from London with a love of children’s books, learning through play, family traditions and Montessori-inspired parenting. Alongside raising my family, I’ve spent much of my life navigating chronic illness and disability. Those experiences have shaped not only the parent I am, but also the reason this blog exists.
When I first became a parent, I realised that much of the advice I came across assumed parents had endless energy, perfect health and plenty of time. That simply wasn’t my reality.
Like many parents, I want to raise curious, confident and independent children. I also want to create a home that feels calm, joyful and full of opportunities to learn. Living with chronic illness hasn’t changed those hopes—it has simply meant I’ve had to find different ways of reaching them.
Over the years I’ve discovered ideas, routines and habits that have made family life easier. Some are inspired by Montessori, others have come from trial and error, and many have simply grown out of adapting to life with fluctuating health. They haven’t made life perfect, and I certainly don’t have it all figured out, but they have helped us build a family life that feels richer, calmer and more connected.
I wanted to create the sort of resource I had been searching for: somewhere that is honest about how hard parenting with chronic illness can sometimes be, while also celebrating the wonderful moments, the small victories and the practical ideas that genuinely make a difference.
Here you’ll find Montessori-inspired activities, seasonal ideas, children’s books, practical family routines, honest reflections and the little adaptations that have helped our family along the way.
I hope that by sharing the ideas and strategies it has taken me months—and sometimes years—to learn, I can encourage other parents facing similar challenges and help them feel a little less alone.
Whether you’re parenting with chronic illness, disability or limited energy, or you’re simply looking for realistic Montessori-inspired ideas to use at home, I hope you’ll find encouragement, inspiration and reassurance here.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
With love,
Empowered Montessori Mama x
